Unless you are using the supplied restore media you need to go to the manufacturers website and find the ethernet or wifi driver for that model. Install the driver, connect to the internet and then you can download drivers directly to your PC from the same website.

If you had Win8 on this note down the device names, then find the drivers for it before you wipe it, or just leave windows 8 on, what's the problem? You are making this sound so much more difficult than it is, and you still have not told us what make and model the laptop is.

Sometimes, System Manufacturers use multiple network cards in the same model of computer. As others also said, if it works in Win 8 then that's because the driver is a part of a base Win 8 install.

If all else fails, stay with Win 8 make sure you paid for a proper license , or take it to a friend who knows more about computer hardware or a local computer shop for more assistance.
